Interesting article on Stephanopoulos re: Clinton's fatal flaws. It should be noted, however, that too many people are expecting to have a president who is at the same time powerful and effective, yet devoid of human failings. Ain't gonna happen. The forces that would result in such a person getting elected are just not there.

I think we'll end up with a Republican president this time (George Bush, Jr?), hopefully with a Democratic House of Representatives to ensure gridlock. I don't think Gore is electable for president. He just looks too sleepy.

Re Clinton: "We accomplished, and he accomplished, more than I ever thought humanly possible. But he lost the battle with himself, tarnished his presidency and all of us associated with it,'' Stephanopoulos told Newsweek"

The man was elected originally with a mandate to bring in some form of national health insurance. He was given a mandate by the people to do that. They (the Prez, his wife, and the rest of the administration) failed miserably. It's a forgotten issue now--the main goal of the first part of the first administration! I wonder what Stephanopoulos eats for breakfast. It sure ain't anything that enhances memory.
