I know--that's the prevailing view whenever I bring it up on S.I.

Nonetheless, it makes sense to me. Apparently Don Martini on Dell thread also does this, and said his son built 400K into a million last year doing it too

As one veteran said to me, it's actually how Warren Buffett built wealth-selling insurance and buying stocks. Writing puts is selling insurance. But yes you tie up margin--and I don't ever use margin anyway so I don't mind
