There's a program available for something like 29.95 or so called @guard, which blocks banner ads. Obviously, blocking them makes websurfing a lot faster, since you are not downloading all that bandwidth hogging stuff. There are other similar programs. @Guard was featured on cnbc a few weeks ago with the viewpoint that if the public knew about these programs, that are so easy to install and use, that firms that made lots of money from banner ads could have a problem. I use a banner ad blocking program. It speeds up websurfing a hell of a lot. If VERT makes most of its revenue from ads, one would hope that this revenue could be replaced quickly. It's inevitable that that the public will get more sophisticated and learn of such programs. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
