At General Magic, we have developed Portico, a very-human virtual assistant,
as well as a great internet/telephony service. I am presently EVP focused on
Business Development (including partnerships) and Advanced Development
(custom applications for partners). Portico is amazing internet-based
technology that brings a human-voice and personality to internet and personal
information. "She" understands millions of spoken requests, and says over
5000 things back! Portico and magicTalk are directly in the middle of the
convergnce of telecom and the internet and may just be the next "big thing" on
the net. We have built the worlds largest operations center (now hundreds of
servers) for such a service and housed it in Sunnyvale. We are partnering with
a significant number of major Telco, Internet, and other players to bring this
technology to market, so you might end up using (for example) the "AT&T (or
other big carrier) Personal Assistant" or the "Quicken Voice Service" or
"Revolve Voice" and not realize that General Magic technology and operations
are behind the scenes. While it takes time to bring these services to market,
and we can't even announce "big deals" often until they are launched (which
could be months after they are signed), we have a clear intent to be the major
provider in all these areas. It is also clear now that we will all have internet
based virtual assistant's very soon, and I am hopeful many will be hosted by
General Magic.

Kurt,

I support your analysis of 3Q earnings and have been trying to get this same message heard: keep expectations low this Q. In fact it's Q3 I'm targeting assuming there is some financing in place by then so there is a Q3.

What is your take on the decreasing Institutional ownership? A pattern that often develops for those "longs" on a stock is the denial or rationalizing of onitsface bad news. There is a post about the change in institutional ownership in Yahoo today.
