There is nothing per se which saysyou cant box, that you cant go long and go short. But why not just put it all in the same account? you cant avoid short sale rules (tick/bids and availability)...so there is no advantage to simply buying and selling in a margin account.

That is all I am saying.
SOme like to go short and long to avoid ticks/bids when they want to resell...=violation.
Some like to go short and long to avoid having to reborrow tough to get stock. =violation.
