I don't have 98, but I understand that it has all sorts of bugs. One of the fixes is to correct a MSFT discovered bug that crashes the system if it is left running continuously for 47.9 hours straight, or something like that. Apparently a Microsoft rep was explaining in a conference all the new things the Win98 fix package will do and when he mentioned this the whole room burst out laughing. A reporter asked a guy what was so funny. He quipped that no one in the world, outside of MSFT, has been able to keep Win98 running for 47.9 hours straight. -g-

(OT. Has anyone besides me been having problems with Windows 98? It's on the notebook I got a few weeks ago and it hangs up, crashes, shuts down, and misloads on startup far more often than Window 95. Or maybe it's something about the configuration put on the Toshiba )

The most common problem is if W98 is installed over W95, as all the inherent problems of the W95 setup will remain.

You might try disabling the power management to see if that helps.

I have had much better desktop results with W98 than with W95 from the beginning, but one or more of the online patches from MS really helped, if you haven't installed them.

Check with Toshiba for BIOS updates or other issues.

Good Luck, Don

I have two computers that came with Win98 installed, and they pretty much never crash, which is a nice change because Win95 always crashed, and Win3.1 crashed a lot, too. The Win95 computer with Win98 installed over it is a nightmare. I am thinking of deleting everything on it and starting over.
