Dagny also was attracted to Hank Reardon, who abused her!
There was much about Rand that I liked; politically I agreed with many of her ideas about selfishness and capitalism. But she seemed really offbase when it came to relationships, and she seemed to have no grasp of psychology at all. SHe's a perfect example of superior intelligence being unable to compensate for a lack of knowledge in other areas. It's why I have problems with John Galt and Father Terrence--they try to apply Rand to every aspect of life, without realizing that no one has that kind of comprehensive intellect and that to adopt her so unquestioningly is a very dubious thing to do!

I think E was right about women being attracted to power and money, men to physical perfection. It seems to be a species preservation impulse. Freddy has written about this before. I have met several people from SI and have found that I respond pretty much to them in 3D as I did online. I don't know what that means. Just mentioning it. Rand was ugly as sin, so you must be right about minds attracting minds-though I never saw a picture of her lover, Nathaniel Brandon. THere are certainly minds here at SI I find compatible to infuriating to downright seductive, but have no idea what would happen in 3D!
