I don't follow PAIR so I can't comment on the Avidia system. Sounds sexy. Read one news report just now and it does sound pretty good. Who knows, maybe PAIR will get bought by a major switch vendor.

I think the chart speaks for itself. The thing you need to remember is that DSL is an ILEC technology. It'll fly once the ILECs decide it will fly. And in that case it's highly likely that their current vendors will get any additional business.

There's an outstanding thread on the subject of last mile technology where some extremely knowledgeable people who contribute to all the major telecom threads on SI are in abundance. Strongly suggest you go to that thread and ask your question there.

Did you catch this post on the Last Mile thread? From here there's a great link to an article on telco equipment takeover candidates. Pair is mentioned as a good one. I think this is their only real hope, but it isn't unlikely anymore because their equipment seems to be very credible with telco techies. I don't think they can make it as an independent.
