"....stuff like that makes me feel icky." Good for you. No foolin. I don't like important people of most kinds. Yech.

Reminded me of something happened while in Santa Fe. We're walking off dinner and in front of one of the silly hotels, and I can tell a bunch of security suits and HP are getting ready for "Someone" to come out of the hotel. As we're walking up to the corner, a guy in what he considers a hot truck jumps the green light to dash left turn onto our street in front of the oncoming cars. Not only does he almost hit the oncoming car, he almost loses control of the truck and jumps the narrow street curb. He hits probably 45 in the block right alongside our sidewalk, frankly scaring the poop out of me. I would wring his neck, given the chance. A guy on security taps me and tells me I'll have to move and is doing that steer you with their arms thing. I wanted to say phuck you, did you see that? "I don't give a shit about your somebody. What about that drunk or reckless driver who just tried to sweep us off the sidewalk?" "I understand. You'll have to move." Phuck you, buddy. Whatever you do, don't touch me.

Governor of New Mexico comes out surrounded by Special Assignment State Patrol guys and gets in their car. Big effing deal. Governor of New Mexico. Get an important state, fatso.

I think they would have driven over us if we were all lying there.

Spouse reads Cornwell, of course. We just discussed a incident she just remembered. One of her co-workers is one of "them", and another female co-worker was saying, "Well how'd you like to work with one of them? And have them looking at your boobs and stuff all the time."

She and said co-worker burst out laughing and could think of no reply.

Ahh, life's little moments.

<<Yes, I like Patricia Cornwell, although I wonder about the segue. What path did your mind take on the way from orgasms to Patricia Cornwell? She is gay, you know. She admits it. >>

It just struck me that you lived close to where she writes about. Yes, I know she's gay. :^( Saw her on TV, nice looking lady. She also used to be in forensics. In Southern Cross there is a scene in a jail cell with two ladies, one gay. The gay lady is asked about men and she says " ain't nothing a man has that you don't have under your own hood".

I also read Grisham [The Testament is a great read] and Leonard. Hiaasen out of Florida writes a lot like Leonard. My fishing buddy's wife and I like the same authors and do a lot of trading. We check with each other before buying a book.

I used to buy a paperback and if I liked it I would go to the library and read the entire works by the author. Have you read Hillerman? He is the brother of the Major Domo on Magnum PI. He writes mainly about the 4 corners area-AZ, CO, NM, UT. Navajo detectives. Lots of Indian lore.
