Daniel, by that time the 'picks' are property of Market Gems thread. The picks are for subscribers for a few days, but we can't keep up the codes forever. After a while its in our all best interest to bandy about the pick with input from everyone, removing the code.

For example from the more 'popular' picks, GNET,CMGI were 'coded' picks for a few days and so was CNET, then CC for a few days, and the latest was DCLK, but after 2 or 3 days we mention the stock otherwise juggling all the codes would be confusing. So I think the best thing to do if an 'older' pick comes back to play is just give the symbol.

OF course, there are times that the particular pick is so hot that it is repeated once again in the watch list and it becomes 'coded' again.

Jenna,

I would like to echo the comment of the poster who asked for a unique identifier for each stock.

I get too confused with the numbers, since they are not unique. Here's what I would suggest. As you put each stock in a watchlist or newsletter, assign it an identifier. I would suggest that the identifier contain the date, and whether it was a newsletter, watchlist, or calendar selection, although that part is optional.

Examples would be WL030999-5, NL031299-6, or EC040199-8.

Then there would be no question about a particular stock.

Then, if you really want to go all out, you could set anchors in the Web pages for each identifier, and when you refer to a stock in a posting, you could enter it as a link to the place where it is mentioned.

So, instead of "#6 from March 11 just reported", we would see a hyperlinked "EC031199-6 just reported", and when we clicked on that, we would get right to the symbol.

I know that's a lot more typing for you, but I know it would be an enormous help in following the postings.
