You're kidding, right? I mean, you picked up on the bit about the Catholic church's involvement, so I'm pretty sure (not positive) you read the article. You must be kidding, right?

Take a glance at the article Daniel linked, Les, it'll only bolster your contention that everyone's implicated. Plenty of blame to be parceled out for the years of brutality. Whether controlled by Democrats or Republicans, our country and its security apparatus consistently busied itself at this murderous work.

However, Les, none of this merits the neutral verdict you pass on all Guatemalans. An equivalent argument would cast the ANC and the Boers as equally responsible for the miseries precipitated by apartheid. That both sides in Guatemala committed atrocities is clear. That the government we supported committed 90% of the crimes is equally clear. Let that inform your judgment.
