I wonder if the small stocks are really done for...

in the "new paradigm". I know that indexing the S&P 500 or even the Wilshire 5000 is becoming even more popular. Every business I am involved with seems to follow that path in its pension or 401(k) plans. Small stock selection is tough to begin with and the large caps have such a tremendous advantage in being able to benefit from the rapid changes in technology and markets. Also, true quality small companies seem to be purchased more often than ever before by the large companies with billions in cash to put to work. The absorbed technologies just make the large companies better (read Cisco). Its all a bit like the Borg, although with the assimilation proponents winning.
