MS-6207 Offers Low Cost, Small-Footprint Desktop System
With Advanced System Management
FREMONT, Calif., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- MSI Computer Corp., a Micro-Star Company, today announced the MS-6207 Concerto NetPC. Designed to reduce total cost of ownership by delivering a high performance multimedia network-ready system with advanced system management, the MS-6207 is an ideal solution for corporate, education, and home applications. The high-performance MS-6207 supports the Socket 370 Celeron(TM) processor at clock speeds up to 466 MHz with a 100 MHz front side bus. Despite its small size (3.3" H x 12.4" W x 14.5" D), the MS-6207 includes integrated 3D video, audio, and networking, as well as two PCI expansion slots and floppy disk, hard disk, and CD-ROM bays.
The MS-6207 features MSI's new Ultimate System Armor II second-generation system hardware monitoring. The new technology from MSI Computer ensures maximum system dependability, reduced TCO (total cost of ownership), and streamlines CPU configuration and system fine-tuning for maximum performance.

"The MS-6207 provides resellers with an extremely powerful and flexible small footprint system that may be easily applied to a wide variety of cost-sensitive applications that nonetheless demand high performance and quality," stated Angel Lin, MSI Computer Vice President. "The MS-6207 includes MSI's Armor II for the state-of-the-art in affordable system protection and plug and play convenience."

The all-in-one LPX form factor multimedia motherboard in the MS-6207 delivers high performance 2D/3D graphics from the integrated SiS(R) 6326AGP/6326DVD video accelerator with DVD playback. The SiS6326 achieves unprecedented 3D performance with a 50 million pixels per second fill rate. The MS-6207 includes a hardware MPEG II video decoder for flicker-free DVD playback and viewing streaming video on networks. An optional NTSC/PAL TV-out is ideal for multimedia home theater applications. The MS-6207 includes 4 MB video RAM standard with 8MB optional.

The high performance video is teamed with Creative ENSONIQ ES1373 Enhanced 3D Sound for dramatic, yet affordable, immersive multimedia. The Creative ES1373, compliant to Microsoft Entertainment PC97/98 specifications, supports Direct Sound and Direct Sound 3D audio effects. The 64-voice XG wavetable synthesizer and full-duplex stereo with AC3-capability satisfy the most demanding audio applications.

Network ready out-of-the-box, the MS-6207 includes integrated Intel 82558 10/100 MB Ethernet with magic packet filtering to wake-up on LAN. The network controller also provides ACPI, ARP and Flexible frame filtering. The system is compliant with Net PC specs and meets the WFW baseline.

The MS-6207 provides PCI expansion slots on the riser card. Four memory banks using two 168-pin unbuffered DIMM sockets permit a maximum memory size of 256 MB with 3.3V SDRAM.

High performance I/O includes two 16550 Fast UART-compatible serial ports, SPP/EPP/ECP parallel port, and IrDA connector. Two integrated USB ports ensure compatibility with the newest peripherals. The standard audio port includes speaker out, microphone and line inputs. The on-board IDE controller supports IDE HDD/CD-ROM with PIO, Bus Master and Ultra DMA/33 modes, and the floppy disk controller supports 1.2 MB/1.44 MB/2.88 MB floppy disks.

The motherboard Plug & Play BIOS automatically detects the connection of peripheral devices and the insertion of expansion cards. The flexible BIOS provides a wide variety of frequency and core/bus settings. Maximizing user convenience, the flash BIOS and drivers are upgradable through the Internet and MSI's own bulletin board system. The BIOS includes built-in TCAV (Trend(R) Chip-Away Virus) Software. The only antivirus solution that's designed to ensure the entire boot process is virus-free, TCAV technology guards against boot virus threats early in the boot cycle, before they have a chance to load into the system, ensuring clean computer boot-up. Included poly fusing prevents system damage by keyboard shorts and the CPU is protected from current or voltage overload.

About MSI's Ultimate System Armor II

MSI Computer's proprietary Ultimate System Armor II is today's ultimate system protection and CPU configuration system. Armor II includes:

-- TOP Tech II. TOP Tech II protects the computer's most valuable
component, the CPU. More affordable than conventional solutions, TOP
technology also provides more accurate thermal measurement with less
detection deviation. The TOP Tech II device attaches directly to the
CPU heatsink, enabling it to measure the CPU's temperature without
being affected by the airflow generated by the CPU fan. A remote
temperature sensor enables users to monitor other valuable components
such as the VGA chip or hard disk drive.
-- CPU Plug & Play II. Auto-detecting the CPU type for the greatest
efficiency, CPU Plug & Play II enables users to fine-tune their CPU
settings without moving jumpers. Providing a safe environment which
protects the CPU from applying overvoltage, CPU Plug & Play II
provides 704 possible CPU configurations allowing users to optimize
their system performance.
-- SoftCooler II. MSI's SoftCooler II software complements the
motherboard's conventional cooling fan to reduce CPU temperature
without the need for additional cooling devices. SoftCooler II can
reduce the CPU temperature by 57% in just five minutes (AMD K6-233),
providing greater system stability, longer CPU life, and reducing
system power consumption.
-- PC Alert II. With a user-friendly interface, the PC Alert II system
monitor software teams up with MSI's System Hardware Monitors to sense
CPU and system temperature, CPU and power supply voltage and control
the CPU, system and power supply fan, CMOS battery status, and detect
chassis intrusion. PC Alert II also provides disk and memory
statistics, network management, tips and suggestions for trouble
shooting, error logging, and other real-time system information.
PC Alert II is available in seven languages, automatically detecting
the operating system language.
All MSI motherboards are manufactured in ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and China, 100% tested with completely filled SIMM banks, and aged 24 hours before shipment.
