re: novell and compaq making cache products

my own subjective opinion is that novell is a legacy system, that may be able to sell into legacy markets, but whose product base has essentially been incorporated into NT. too bad for novell that network auth, security, and user management is something nt actually does well. this announcement about novell entering the cache market should worry us about as much as the news that radio shack is coming out with a cache device. :-)

It is certainly important, what is not clear is whether it is a software solution (a la Inktomi) or hardware (a la NTAP).

Sounds like NOVL wants to get into the web caching software business. That is a crowded market already, though the growth is said to be explosive. That would compete with NTAP's NetCache products, but that is only 8% of NTAP's sales.

NOVL and CPQ. hmmmm...CPigQ may just buy them, imo. They deserve one another.
