No, it's not because I own this stock to say I like the 16x improvement. I am really enjoying it. It takes AOL 16 seconds to open a page now it takes @Home only 1 second or less. I am not sure what area you are at, but here in Fremont, it appears that the network is VERY STABLE. It maintains the throughput 100% of the time. I've played it for the whole day and absolutely no let down.

I didn't even mention the USB. They came in and started to put in the ethernet card. I think ethernet is by default unless you demand USB.
Anyway, the speed is night and day to old days of AOL.

In Fremont, I feel the highest rate is 800Kbps(0.8Mpbs). The rate didn't go higher than this.

You seem awfully OK about the fact that you expected to get 100x and are only getting 16x. If you bought a car because it claimed 20 miles per gallon and you only got 4, you'd be so disappointed you'd want your money back.

I thought I would be upset about not getting such and such throughput. But since any given link is only has fast as the slowest segment, all you can do is ensure that your link isn't the problem. I have had @home since september (in Portland, OR) and I just had my *first* outage, from 11pm till about 4am.

My @Home feels as fast or faster than the T3 connections I have used on corporate LAN's. Having a 24x7 connection is worth the monthly cost in itself. I had forgot how much time is wasted just waiting for the modems to negotiate.

Your 20 miles per gallon analogy isn't quite right, you only show a 5x speed up from 4mpg. If I was used to 4 mpg and I 'only' got 60 I would be thrilled. Its like winning the lottery and giving it back because the IRS takes %50 and you only got $30 million instead of $60M.

Sounds like you are just having a streak of bad luck. Dont sweat the small stuff. @Home rules!
