Stefan: Are you saying Dell is going down? I show RSI, Stochastic and MACD are showing Dell with an upward trend lately. I think Dell is currently hyper-sensitive right now due only to the media's focus on the tech industry.

Yes DELL has a lofty valuation. And yes, we heard the same arguments when DELL was valued at 10 billion, 20 billion, 50 billion, 70 billion....

I will also admit I have been tempted a few times to sell my DELL position, but I thankfully never have. What I like is simple. Its the likely possibility that DELL will continue to gain market share.

I don't think we'll see the rate of return we have seen, (But we've also heard this before, and have been pleasantly surprised--longs that is.), but I still think we'll see a return to previous highs this year, giving us at least a 35-40% return. Its also hard to sell into a substantial tax bill.-g-

I am puzzled about your one position comment. SIII was not a solo act. I have posted several times that diversity is key, and no single trading position represents over 10-15% of my trading portfolio. I also have a core investment portfolio, (buy and forget), and a mutual fund portfolio. My trading portfolio, represents about 20% of total investments. I have not drifted from this strategy since I began investing over 25 years ago.

Regarding DELL 'trend'. Its hard to call a down trend as DELL has failed to stay in a "corrective" phase for years. I think its dangerous to try to call a top. Believe me, sometimes I look for an excuse to sell. But as long as DELL continues to grow the bottom line, I find it difficult to sell.

I added, as I think Mike Dell has started to think of strategic alternatives. We may also see DELL purchasing some diversity and critical mass. But as I stated, the real future value, is gains in market share.

Good Trading, LF
