Kathy, I use Fidelity as a broker and they have a number you can call where they give you premarket bids. You can also go to

freerealtime.com

and register for realtime quotes--besides giving you a source of real time quotes during market hours, they will show premarket bid and ask. Not really worth checking before 9 est which is when these quotes sometimes begin to change. The closer you get to 9:30, the more they are likely to change.
