Just thought I would bring us a laugh from CPQ.

03/08 04:30 Compaq <CPQ.N> opens Asia-Pac HQ, upbeat on Asia

SINGAPORE, March 8 (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp opened its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore on Monday, confident of a quick recovery in crisis-hit Asia, a top official said.

"Asia will catch up with the high level of growth," Eckhard Pfeiffer, Compaq's President and Chief Executive Officer told reporters after the opening ceremony.

Compaq invested a total of S$3 million in the Compaq Centre and has committed to investing US$21 million in its electronic commerce, call centre activities and the Singapore engineering design centre.

The Compaq centre would house the Singapore sales and marketing operations, the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) headquarters and some Asia Pacific business units.

"We are still the world PC leader and the number one PC company in Singapore, I might add -- but we are also a global IT leader, with the enterprise and Internet capabilities necessary to meet customer needs," Pfeiffer said at the opening ceremony. Compaq has been in Singapore since 1986 when it set up a printed circuit board facility.

Asked about competition from International Business Machines Corp's <IBM.N> and Dell Computer Corp's <DELL.O> recent large supply deal, Pfeiffer said he had not seen "anything significant". LOL hahaha very funny. Dorine

IBM agreed to a US$16 billion pact with Dell to manufacture key building blocks for Dell personal computers, supplying items such as disk drives, chips, network attachments and monitors.

Well you warned me.
This last weekend my hard drive crashed. My boyfriend's office has a "specialist" who can fix it and put in a new hard drive for under $200. He said he can access the material on the old hard drive but if I dont get a new hard drive immediately the old info will probably not be available.
So I'll get that one fixed.
But I also will get my new notebook now.
So, to anyone,
What is the difference between the 64 MDRAMS on the 7000 series (Inspiration) and the 64 MDSDRAM on the 3500 series? Is there any reason to get more than 300 mhz? Is there a reason to get 6.4 GB instead of 3.2 or 4? (I dont think I need 10).
The price difference between the lowest price 3500 and highest price 7000 is considerable, but within the middle prices, not very different.
Thank you for helpful information.
My first DELL computer buy. I am sorry to have to spend the money but excited to be going to have a DELL.
