7thstreet.Com In Tutorial Pact With AOL
By Reuters, 03/07/99 01:04

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y (Reuters) - Software company 7thStreet.com and America Online joined forces Friday to provide AOL members with a range of online tutorials and courses ranging from leadership skills to programming.

The agreement, which had been rumored in the market, pushed shares of the tiny Internet content provider upwards on the Nasdaq exchange, where it closed 81.8 percent, or $2.25 higher, at $5.00.

7thStreet's Tutorials.com will become an ''anchor tenant'' in AOL's Computing and Workplace Channels and will also be accessible through the interactive service's keyword search.

At any time, AOL members can chose from more than 150 courses ranging from Windows 98 and leadership skills to programming in the main formatting language of the Internet, HTML. The courses will be complete with full audio and graphics.

A spokesman for 7thStreet, which merged with 7th Level Inc. in February, could not confirm if any more deals with AOL were coming down to the wire. An article in the March 15th issue of Business Week said AOL is eager to launch a software package to teach customers how to set up stock portfolios through 7thStreet's online learning systems.

But the spokesman did say that "within the next week or so"7thStreet will be announcing other possible pacts with major Net and technology companies.

Buyers will most likely give some support to maintain the gap in anticipation of Big Name releases "within the next week or so".

It would be safer for intending short players to move in and out of positions quickly so as not to be caught with their shorts down when these other major pacts are announced.
