Brazil's Cardoso says IMF pact will lead to growth

BRASILIA, March 8 (Reuters) - Brazilian President Fernando Henrique Cardoso said Monday a new pact
with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to be unveiled later today, would lead to economic growth and a
stronger local currency.

''This will be an important step in the resumption of economic growth, now that within hours, details of the
accord between Brazil and the IMF will be released both in Washington and Brasilia,'' Cardoso said in a
speech.
