I don't think you are in the minority at all. There is no compelling reason for someone to upgrade if they know that the P III is simply a stop gap. I for one am waiting and I'm using ancient tech (Pentium 133), obviously though I'm biased because I'm waiting for affordable RMBS.

No, you are not in the minority. I too am waiting to upgrade this PI 200 Mhz piece of trash, until Rambus enabled PIII's come out. We should be able to buy one for a fairly decent price sometime early next year. Then my games will scream!
