Alohal, sometimes the bears get frustrated but this thread is a wealth of knowledge and experience. The options story was also covered by Forbes May 18 or 23 , 1998 ? ( it's easy to find & worth a read) Andrew Smithers suggested that if the options were expensed on the income statement the PE on the S&P would be 35 at the time it was 28 . Yes there are legitimate issues with respect to how to determine the true cost but the current treatment gives the unsophisticated investor the impression that there is no cost. I don't have an issue with someone selling their services - his piece is excellent IMO. Since you have a substantial sum invested in Dell why not spend a little money and check out Fred Hickey's High Tech Strategist PO Box 3133 Nashua NH 03061-3133 published monthly since 1987 he knows his stuff and supports his positions with many facts and references. $ 30 for a 3 month trial. It may change your thinking and it may not but i would urge you to give it a try. Mike
