Singapore Air Force Orders Eight Boeing AH-64D Apache Helicopters PR Newswire - March 08, 1999 11:21 MESA, Ariz., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Singapore last week agreed to purchase eight multi-mission AH-64D Apache helicopters from The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) through a foreign military sales contract with the U.S. Army. Singapore is the fourth nation to buy the AH-64D Apache, the world's most advanced combat helicopter. The Apaches will be flown by the Singapore Air Force. The eight AH-64Ds requested by Singapore raises total AH-64D orders to 337, including 232 for the U.S. Army, 67 for the United Kingdom and 30 for The Netherlands. The announcement of the purchase was made recently by Dr. Tony Tan, Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence. The AH-64D Apache, the world's only fourth-generation combat helicopter, features fully integrated avionics and weapons plus a state-of-the-art modem that transmits real-time, secure digitized battlefield information to a wide range of air and ground forces. The AH-64D, built by The Boeing Company in Mesa, Ariz., incorporates a series of enhancements that make it more effective in combat, and more survivable, deployable and maintainable in the field. Its ability to communicate digitally with other aircraft and ground forces, and to share that information almost instantly, gives the AH-64D a significant advantage over current combat helicopters.
