Michael -

The DD sector in general has been in a slump.

Today, even though the Nasdaq composite index was up 60, both Iomega and Quantum were flat. Seagate was down 7/8, and Western Digital was up 3/16.

This is only natural considering that Proview has announced that they will make a computer with only an Orb drive and no fixed storage. Obviously, everyone knows that Proview is the standard setter in this industry. Soon all computers will ship without hard drives. Seagate, Quantum and Western Digital will be out of business. ;-)

PS: Sorry for getting frivolous. Although IOM isn't doing anything for me, the rest of my portfolio made me feel pretty good today.

Mike,

<I don't think it would move (UP) if you hit it with a stick>

Well, I'll be darned!!! Haven't tried that one yet....

My opinion is that we probably won't see any significant movement until earnings are announced. As long as the stock can maintain a price over 5, there shouldn't be a violent tug downward (margin call tornado).

It will be what they say during the conference call about the future that will have the most effect, since we already are expecting some real crappy earnings.

Of course, this is assuming that there is not a piece of news that is released before hand (positive or negative).

Until earning time, we can all take turns with a foam bat and slug each other's heads..saying "I got you last"..." "I got YOU last"..........."gotcha..."

As far as the next Zip killer ORB...who knows. It is a little behind the curve. Seems that some are assuming that Iomega has nothing up their sleeve to combat.

Iomega seems to have plowed down the other "killers"...the Imation Super Disk thing may be in Compaq computers, but, they won't be making money unless the users learn how to use IT. How come unnamed persons don't mention Super Disk in this fashion??? When it in effect has the same general properties as Zip.

1)Consumers need to have knowledge of what it's used for

2)Disks must be sold for there to be any profits.

If anyone has made it this far down my post, congratulations!

Linda
