A person's choice to go to hell will not drag society, unless society, on an individual level, chooses to tag along.
I sincerely doubt that is likely, and as a result, I don't see reasons to make people pariahs for doing something they'll do whether or not you make it illegal.
We make laws against murder NOT because it is illegal, but because it infringes on others' rights.
You CANNOT make the same argument in the case of an early term abortion, UNLESS you believe that life begins at conception. IF you believe that, you are in a minority. Based on YOUR belief that the majority makes the rules, you'd be forced to accept laws that allow for early term abortion.

People must be allowed to choose Hell, or Heaven has no meaning. God has no interest in people who are coerced into good behavior. He wants a man who chooses good behavior. Remember the Prodigal Son, remember Job. Were they coerced into good behavior, God would be less interested in using them as allegorical tales.
