Broadcom Corp. (NASDAQ:BRCM - news) is up $7.63 or 14.2% to $61.38 on the news that it has been raised from neutral to outperform by Mark Edelstone, an analyst at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Broadcom, a leading broadband-communication chipmaker, will supply Northern Telecom (NYSE:NT - news) with a high-speed communications technology. Also, Broadcom said its high-speed technology will be incorporated into Nortel's VDSL broadband network, a product that allows for rapid
transmission of voice, data and video over the telephone lines. 'They got one of the biggies, one of the big telecom-equipment suppliers that has jumped in and is supporting this technology, said Gregory Sheppard, an analyst at Dataquest, a unit of the Gartner Group. 'Broadcom has a reputation for getting in early with a technology and becoming the dominant supplier.'

Well, I missed a buy-in on Friday for today's run-up
but I already loaded up over 1k shares of BRCM. So I
agree on what you are saying, but at some time you
want to have everyone to know this stock so it can
be a household name and it will really take off like
a rocket.
