I wish dreamer et al had not dragged this out again, but let me once again say what is blisteringly obvious from comparing the charts and the SI posts. CITI did not move/trade at all until one minute after DM's pick was released. HEAL moved a great deal the day before, b/c Daniel's PUBLICLY POSTED hints made that pick fairly easy to find, especially once the discovery by a few spread and the price moved. Presumably on the assumption that DM would be scared off that pick due to the move, HEAL then got dumped in 9:30 to 9:45 trading, (possibly hurting lance b- hence the recent flames from WR, LB, etc.). It then picked back up after 9:45 when DM did in fact release it. What do I conclude from the above? 1) Daniel does not release his picks to "insiders." 2) Daniel made a mistake by hinting in the sense that he allowed others to (try) to pull a P&D on those who could not figure out his pick from the hints. He's acknowledged that; no one can really blame him, though, since of course everyone is responsible for their trades. It was a "mistake" only in the sense that it allowed all these guys with excess free time to try and distort Dan's recs into a P&D scam. 3) Of course, Dan's picks move at first b/c he picked them. Unquestionably. Right now, in the wake of his fame, those jumps are definitely excessive. But I don't see Dan recommending that you go out and fill at 100% above the price he recs at. 4) There is a good reason, other than a belief in Dan's abilities, for stocks to move when he recs. them. Primarily, that reason is the fact that even after his rec. fades, volume will have a relatively long-term increase in average volume. Why? Well, even though some of you may dump Dan' picks when he releases the next one, I bet a lot of you keep it on your watchlist. Increased awareness = increased volume = increased liquidity = reasonable modest improvement in value of CITI shares. This last is a theory, but I put it out for everyone's interest. Of course, added liquidity, especially if the liquidity is temporary, would yield only a modest increase in value. The facts hold, IMHO, that Dan is not releasing his picks. He is not a scam. I'll wait a while before passing a permanent opinion on his ability to find good investments or trades, but I will say that CITI at 1 (where he recs.) looks like a fine investment to me. And he certainly knows a lot more than most if not all if the other people, pro and con, who post here. But I, alas, am no expert.
