Yes, that's the gist of the benefit of external control of your PC. Thank you for your reasoned, well stated argument.

It is my belief that PSN isn't a great way to enforce software license. For one it makes it a royal pain to switch out for new hardware. A user has to mess with reregistration of all such software. Also complicates software running in a workgroup.

Personally I am a fan of the Smart Card for this application. The advantage is that it travels with the individual - attached to person - to whatever station you chose. This technique has been implemented in my satellite service receiver, but, alas, its not on the radar for PC systems.

Back to the point - I'm more concerned with how Intel is handling the subject more than these aspects. I don't think the security thing is good business, I don't like the liability exposure, and I think that these values are best solved by other means. Intel should have prepared the market before committing to these features. In the future I hope Intel does a better job with whatever they choose do in this area.
