*OT* < Hope you had the presence of mind to get back into the market in February > Thanks but no thanks for the investment advice, Helios. It's easy to see how powerful the forces pulling additional investors like yourself into the speculative mania are. If I was you I would be very careful here. The Bears may have lost this last battle, but they will not lose the coming war in the financial markets. I can't say exactly when this speculative bubble will burst, only that when it does, the losses in most stocks will reach 80%. Take a look at your beloved Cube. Cube has already had its day in the sun; it traded as a speculation in 95-96. The lesson of Cube awaits the Internet Stocks and the nifty 50. The Market seems mindless; it is now a gambling casino. There is no real earnings growth, yet the S@P trades at 34 times earnings. I started investing in the spring of 1982 when almost everybody hated stocks and there was great value in the Market and this is the most speculative market I've ever seen. Today, almost everyone loves the market. Markets are being driven by money flows- how much money is around and where its flowing. As long as there is money around that has no place else to go, stocks will continue to go up. My indicators tell me that we have just begun the last speculative upleg in the financial markets. I hope your wise enough to know when to get out before the real selling begins and intensifies. I see Dow 6750 and Nasdaq 1500 by the end of 1999. I see Gold at $312 an ounce by early April 1999, $343 an ounce during the summer of 1999 and $400 an ounce early in the Year 2000. I see stagflation, the worst environment for financial assets and the best environment for precious metals ( especially gold ) taking hold in the year 2000. If you've looked at the A/D line lately, it should come as no surprise to you that shortsellers have been making some real good money in this market. What are your targets for the Dow, S@P, Nasdaq and Gold as this year unfolds? The XAU has bottomed.
