To All: While we are waiting for the next news update... I thought I would share just a little of the DD I did last week on the logging industry. It was some of these articles that made me decide to invest in VCAH last week.

After reading the first three articles... I found that logging has been banned in China, Malaysia has already logged most of their forests, many forests have been lost due to fires the last couple of years, and an increasing number of forests are being protected from logging. This adds up to one thing... shortage of quality wood.

The third article was what I found most interesting. Confirmation that Makapa Woods indeed has a lease agreement with Guyana Govt. If you will remember the PR... Veamco inherited the lease
when it acquired Makapa Woods. This article is old and negative against logging in Guyana, it was from a group wanting more restrictions on logging the Guyana forests.

When you look at the list of companies who have lease agreements with the Govt... Makapa is listed as a TSA. TSA = Timber Sales Agreement. These types of agreements are issued for areas greater than 60,000 acres for periods of 10 to 25 yrs with a right of renewal. TSA holders are required to undertake management and operational level inventories, and submit management plans. Annual acreage fees are also charged. From everything I have read... the taxes and acreage fees are pretty cheap in Guyana.
