I suspect that the other times that VVUS acted in the way you are talking about were distinguishable from today's action. Here the news came out early and the market had all day to react. VVUS closed strong near the high of the day on incredible volume.

I bet that wasn't the case in the other situations you're thinking of. One other time I played VVUS it did act crazy - that was on great earnings when it was around 30 or so. I bought on a morning dip following the tremendous earnings but it just kept going down and I got burned.

But intraday jumps and then selloffs intraday are one thing. If the news is out early and the stock reacts in a very positive way on this kind of volume and closes near the high and doesn't sell off intraday, that is indicative that there will be a strong followup morning. If VVUS gaps down I'll never play it again, it's just too nutty. I hear what you say about VVUS acting weird, but I still think there'll be a gap up in this sort of situation. We'll see.
