This time Monica was very much aware that the older woman with whom she was speaking was certainly recording their conversation. But little else had changed Wednesday night, except that Monica's self-centered immaturity was now undeniable. Of every fact, opinion and minutiae that circles the Clinton scandals, those regarding Monica Lewinsky have been the least relevant, and the least interesting. Yet, here she was, with Barbara Walters, a handful of video crew, and 70 million viewers to prove that interest in the scandal had not been lost, only misapplied. Perhaps the most adoring fan of the so-called interview was Independent Counsel Ken Starr, recently having had the Justice Department open an investigation into his staff's interrogation techniques; Exhibit "A" for the defense: go to videotape, and consider the source of the allegations. Monica showed no signs of remorse, never considered the ramifications of her actions beyond her small world, and repeatedly blamed the legally sworn reactions of others for the predicaments that were really of her own making.
