The OEM who depended upon AMD are in worse shape than you think.They will
have to pay the spot price for Intel's chips which is higher than what they would
have got earlier, and buy new motherboards/motherboard components on the spot
market also. Then they will have to dump their Socket 7 motherboard on the gray
market or else watch the motherboard depreciate. [ Remember the mother board
prices fall every month.] This will wipe out any price advantage AMD had offered
them. These losses will make them reluctant to order large quantities from AMD.[
But they will always want to use AMD as a bargaining lever with Intel.]
