Tom K, I will second that. This thread is better than any book but help me out, there are so many messages and so little time. I don't want to miss any of the good ones! Is everybody using Browsemaster or please suggest another way to get through this information? Many thanks to all you "Good Ones".

tom.k....thanks...dell put sales

i've communicated with don, as our styles are similar...sometimes you have to be a "contrarian"...as far as a method of investing as long as it provides you with consistent returns...my biggest argument with the "experts" is that you lose "opportunity" when selling puts...for you tie up your capacity...opportunity may or may not show itself...i can't immediately spend it...the cash from a put is tangible...can go long with the proceeds and consider this my opportunity...

for example...i've still open the following dell puts...which will hopefully expire worthless...(showing split adjustments)

5/15/98 8 dell 0085(32 0021.25) premium 16 common @91.375(22.84)
8/21/98 5 dell 01100(20 0125) premium 22.5 common @ 118(29.5)
2/17/99 40 dell 0120(80 0160) premium 52 common @ 82.5(41.25)

premiums in on these transactions equal 233k...with which since 10/98 purchased 3000 dell common and 1000 emc common...

the experts argue that you tie up capacity, it is a synthetic long, use margin as there is better return.....in a theoretical text book world i concur...but being simplistic my position is ...i went long without borrowing, i used what i believed a depreciating position to do so, i have no margin interest or calls to worry about, and worst case if i guess wrong, the leaps give me time to roll forward..with additional premium....sort of an legal pyramid/ponzi scheme...works best with large cap techs with good fundamentals...stocks you would want to own...the interesting part is the longs bought with opm become your inventory, which in a LONG TERM (yes we are still in an up market)down or flat market give capacity to write covered calls for income...you can see saw back with sales of puts and calls and leave your portfolio intact, in fact grow it....good luck ed a.
