No doubt the geographical fear is a big factor in the LEAH price, and has been for many months. This is, in part, a play on the return of stability to the region, which could begin, IMO with any significant recovery in Asia. Oil and gas production, and the related services will be early in any recovery due to the increasing need for hard currency.

I've always been amazed by the situations in the most unstable parts of the world, where the indigenous adversaries both keep a good relationship with the oil people because of their critical importance.
No one likes the nightmare of finally achieving power, and seeing the oil folks leaving on the last plane out(:->).

Mobil expanding its Kazakhstan operations: businesswire.com

"Worldwide oil and gas production is projected to decline slightly in 1999 compared with 1998. Production growth is anticipated in several areas, primarily Eastern Canada, Qatar, Kazakhstan and Nigeria."

"Major expenditures are planned for the Sable and Terra Nova projects offshore Eastern Canada, the Cerro Negro heavy oil project in Venezuela, Tengiz development and the CPC pipeline in Kazakhstan, expansions in Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria, and several offshore developments in the U.K. and Norway."

I am going to investigate for myself what those companies you mentioned faced in the Khazakstan government.
Thanks for your insightful comments !

FWIW, Last I checked, most oil- producing nations had government stability concerns to greater or lesser degrees.
Our friends the Saudis have certain religious extremist factions who wish to rid outside investment from the country.
Venezuela has a former government rebel as president, who also has some strong socialist leanings,
Iraq goes without saying.
Kuwait has Iraq, the list goes on. . .

Leah is a risk, it is true. We have to take that into account. I think I understand more clearly why Leah trades at such ridiculously low prices. If LEAH were a U.S.- based Internet company with growth and profits like we have, . . .the price of LEAH well, it would be on the opposite extreme of ridiculous.
