ORACLE CORP is showing constant profitability from Asian
operations, but the firm does not expect an overall regional
recovery in the next 12 months, the company's president said on
Monday. Raymond Lane, President and COO of Oracle Corp, said the
impact of the Asian slowdown had clearly registered by late 1997,
and the firm re-adjusted its targets last year accordingly. Lane
said Asia Pacific operations contributed some 20% to the firm's
overall revenues but the regional view was still cautious. In
fiscal 1998, Oracle's revenues rose 26% to $7.1 bln, according to
a company statement. (Reuters 09:13 AM ET 03/08/99)
