OT
I was in Katmandu for a few days. I remember drinking a "special" coffee and feeling different for at least a day! Of course, that was back in the 70's. If I was running for office, I guess I could say that I put the coffee to my lips, but never swallowed :-).
I also remember one evening when all the electricity went out in the coffee shop where I was. Then we all had to find our shoes at the entrance. When we left, there were painted cows all over the town. They really were painted! It was some kind of Hindu festival. All year round the cows just walk in and out of people's houses there. I'd love to go back one day. I remember beautiful temples and I'd like to go for a trek in the Himalayas. Another "cute" thing was that we had to change our watches by ten ( or was it twenty ) minutes from India time. I've never seen a time change anywhere else that wasn't an even hour. Oh, yeah, and my trip to the Tibetan village was cool. Most people are very poor there, but seem a lot happier than people in the industrialized countries. Oh well, sorry about the long OT post. Just reminiscing.
