I couldn't agree more about the distortion of the subjunctive mood.

I've learned to tolerate horrors such as "lay down" and "for my wife and I", but I want to scream out loud when I hear "If I would have known that...". My comments in an earlier post:

OK, Edwarda, be patient with me here - I think the first part of the sentence should read, "If the internal project had been finished," but isn't the second part OK?
