Waterhouse told me a few days that a stock must close above 5 the day before to be shortable there, so VVUS is out, I didn't even try. But Waterhouse does get confused. I tried to short a stock a few days ago and they said not available. I was shorting against the box, to lock on profits on a long position I held in my cash account, so I offered to move the shares to my margin account so I could borrow them from myself. They said no, they only borrow shares from outside, not from their own customers' margin accounts! I really think they were confused, this sounds wrong. Strange.
