Linda, according to "schmoogenboogen" (what a name... I hope I spelled it correctly) on the Yahoo thread CNBC got the story wrong. His/her post:

"The way he is telling it, Philips "discovered" the actual price was going to be around 1 billion. I was excited at first thinking there had been some progress. He went on to say that philips was not aware of the 8 million options out there when they made their $777,000,000 offer. I see a problem with this story. If they had read the tender offer filing by PHG, they can clearly see that Philips has accounted for these options. Is this shoddy reporting or what???"
