The local tavern in my hamlet celebrates St Uhru's Day. They even have special t-shirts, purple, printed up. It's packed, and the owner is there buying drinks, and they have a contest where they try to throw their wadded-up bar receipts into a cup. With rankings and a whole bit.

I am too shy to ask anything about it of course.

Or too smart.

Same as the Irish do, except in Finnish and generally in colder surroundings. The color purple figures prominently in the festivities. Don't know about purple beer, though.
