Peter,

<<Do you think people misread this ad?>>

Because Novell did the same ad with IBM, DELL and CPQ "buys Novell". Its probably just journalistic rumor-mongering IMHO.

I think it would be great for shareholders but terrible for Novell as a company and for us as its engineers. It would be an attempt at creating another SUN and I do not think that is a profitable venture. Novell occupies a great catbird seat with a fantastic view of the enterprise as a whole. If you give up that by combining with HP you give up a lot of the credibility Schmidt has worked to build. You tech guys have to know what I am talking about. I support Novell because they have the best technology in the market place. The evil empire sniffs around but cannot go head to head when real techs are doing the comparisons of enterprise wide computing. MSFT fits into our networks now not the other way around. IMHO, you give a lot up in the merger you are talking about without getting that much in return. (Of course 80 a share looks good to everyone :-)) Does anyone else see what I am talking about?

Correct or confused?

PS. I put all of those certs at the end so you guys know where I stand and what I have at stake regarding Novell as a company!

Hi PJ,

Yeah IMHO people did not understand the adds..I also think that this idea that they would buy NOVL to get Schmidt is not reasonable..But what you suggest about NOVL buying stuff from HWP is interesting. We all know that HWP needs to restructure, refocus and...
