This is not the point. My initial response was given to an insinuation that racial killings receive too much attention. I argued that they should receive quite a great deal of attention (the more the better) because philosophically they present intolerable implications for all. I also argued that the attention racial killings receive is lop-sided and should be equal regardless of the race of the murderer.

Good point about multiple laws for the same offense. Moreover, the tendency to want to "federalize" crimes and punishment is a recipe for disaster. JLA
