Snowing here, the first good(?) snow of the season. About eight inches here so far, out in the western suburbs, as we are called. The children got out early and are running around in the neighbor's yard, wearing Polartec and Neos. What did we do before Polartec? I marvel at all the winter gear I have accumulated - - Polartec pants, Polartec shirts, Polartec jackets, Polartec gloves, Polartec scarves, Polartec hats, leather gloves lined with bunny fur, gloves made out of some black foam stuff that isn't Polartec and is waterproof, down coats with hoods fringed with no-name fur from China, nylon pants, and Neos. Not to mention boots of all description. Being from the sub-tropics, it's quite a change. Nothing like where you are, of course, which is likewise nothing compared to Rochester or Fargo.

The dog, who is only eight months old, is out in the yard barking at the children, but she can't get to them (fences), and she is running around back and forth, and then comes running into the house whining and crying because she can't get to the children and then runs out and does it all over again. There is snow everywhere. I guess I could put her downstairs so she can't go in and out anymore, but I think it's kinda funny.

Guess I better go to the store and buy stuff before everyone else gets it and cleans off the shelves.
