I see no reason for DOW 10,000 either, but what the h*ll ...

How bout thinking about paper in relation to real goods? If the supply of real goods is not expanding as fast as the paper, should the paper be worth more or less of the goods.

Our economy is bullet, missile and bomb-proof. Every commentator knows this, but many of the other economies are toast. Our currency reflects perceptions about our future economic prospects and currently those expectations are relative to other countries. When our economy takes the pipe in earnest (actuallly before) the relative worth of our currency and debt (in a sense what's the diff) will decline, because our true prospects aren't all that stellar in comparison to others. We also have massive over-capacity and are sitting on a huge credit bubble.

You know this. Just trying to get me to spout more meaningless nonsense? Maybe with a little luck I can keep someone I love from pouring his hard-earned money into an index fund at the top ...

Why does everyone simply extrapolate only their most recent experiences? This seems so common, not just in economic or market psychology but in other endeavors as well ...
