Frank & Mike - Want to get more confused? This is from WSTL's "upcoming events" on the news page (www.westell.com/news.htm): [begin] March 15 & 16 ICM's The Complete DSL Summit "Network Implications of DSL Adoption" Hyatt Regency Miami Convention Center Bill Rodey Westell's Vice President of Channel Sales & Marketing March 24 Merrill Lynch Data Networking and Telecom Symposium Pierce Hotel, New York City Marc Zionts Westell CEO March 29 & 30 IEC's Broadband Access ConForum "An Overview and Update on ADSL" Chicago, IL Bill Rodey Westell's Vice President of Channel Sales & Marketing April 12-14 DSL Con '99 "An Overview and Update on ADSL" Dallas, TX Bill Rodey Westell's Vice President of Channel Sales & Marketing April 28 & 29 ISPCon '99, Spring "An Overview and Update on ADSL" Baltimore, MD Bill Rodey Westell's Vice President of Channel Sales & Marketing June 7 ADSL Industry Update at SuperComm '99 "Future of ADSL from a Manufacturer's Viewpoint" Atlanta, GA Marc Zionts Westell CEO June 10 TecForum at SuperComm '99 "High-Speed Copper Access" Atlanta, GA Marc Zionts Westell CEO Marc Zionts, Westell CEO, will speak on the topic "CPE - Interoperability a Must!" at SuperComm99, the world's largest telecommunications industry conference. The TecForum is chaired by Jeff Waldhunter, Director of Technology & Engineering for Bell Atlantic. The Forum will emphasize the necessity of DSL for the Information Highway to realize its full potential. The full utilization of copper bandwidth is presently the most viable way for making affordable high-speed data capability available to all. An overview of the various DSL technologies will be presented by several speakers with an explanation of why this technology is now feasible and cost effective. Mr. Zionts will address the issue from the customer premises viewpoint. In order for DSL to be deployed rapidly for millions of subscribers, there is a need for low cost interoperable customer premises equipment (CPE). Analog Modems provide a model. They are available from many vendors. They are price competitive and interoperable. Mr. Zionts will explore what it takes for CPEs to become as convenient, affordable and interoperable...the key to putting DSL on the desktop. [end] Now, I'm really confused about the recent WSTL webpage announcement noted by PI-person a few days ago (you know, the one referencing the "Goodbye" message). Did WSTL only eliminate its government network tech support arm, or did more than that service line get terminated? If it was just that customer service, then I guess WSTL still is in ADSL; but if it was more, why is WSTL participating in these events? Harry PS - If you haven't visited the webpage lately (like, in the last month or so), you might go there. WSTL's dressed it up a little, and it's no longer just static red splashes and black text on a white background. I filled a good ten minutes browsing during yesterday's snowstorm.
