StockOperator,

>>>>> If we do break up here, breadth should definitely improve.<<<<<

I presume you are talking about a substantial improvement in the breadth far better than what we saw in the last 550 point move to the upside.

I too feel that we could hit 10000, but it will be on weak legs and if we do get there under the same conditions of poor breadth it wont stay there long. Again if this pullback is small then the next upswing could get us to 10000 but on even fewer stocks. I dont think we are in disagreement with a breakout to the upside in the DOW, but our disagreement is with the breadth improving if it does breakout..

It didnt take too long for the NEW HIGHs to out number the NEW LOWs, and the DOW was only down 33.

I was alway told that the market internals were leading indicators in most cases, not trailing. Im not talking about finite numbers but the rate of change. I guess such would not apply in your senerio, which is possible.

I am way behind and busy as heck so I apologize for not contributing much the last few days. I just saw your post and mention of QWST and thought I would chime in real quick with a warning. Though I agree that telecom has been very strong, I received a class 1 sell signal on QWST tonight that usually indicates a pullback within the next 3 days. Of course no system is flawless but just thought I would let you know that it shows over bought by my system so be careful if you are thinking of going long on it.

(My system only tries for moves around 5 points or so since I am mainly an option trader and I try to grab quick movements in stock price. QWST could still climb over the next month or 2 but my signal implies a short term drop in the next week)

Good Luck,

Lee

StockOperator,

In reference to my original question of what are good stocks to initiate new long positions right now, your list of LVLT,WCOM,QWST RNWK,PMCS all seem to be quite toppy right now, for the short-term.

I only did a quick TA on them, and know nothing about the fundamentals, but please be cautious, since most of them appear to pullback right about now some. Im not saying that they cant go higher, but right now may not be the right time to buy them since they may head down first.

They also look a bit toppy for the MID-TERM(30 days) also. For the long-term they look OK.
