Frank - I was already confused by the different flavors of ADSL and HFC. Now, Nortel has something called etherloop. I don't pretend to understand it, but here it is.

Re: WSJ Armstrong vs. Cullen

Frank,

Did you happen to read Armstrong's open letter in the editorial section of the WSJ a few days ago? Well today Cullen (COO of Bell Atlantic) did a rebuttal. Pretty funny tit-for-tat going on! Very interesting what each had to say.

But, IMHO, Armstrong won the argument hands down. His cry was, "RBOCs owe us a tax cut!" Cullen's reply was, "AT&T tear down the walls!" Cullen's argument was poorly written and did nothing but put a weird spin on AT&Ts massive spending efforts to by pass the RBOCs. To me, Cullen shot himself in the foot. He does all this strange spinning of his viewpoint, and then for effect does the tear down these walls comment. Way too much like a politican. He may have a point, but he needs a new writer if he wants to get readers of the WSJ to believe him (IMHO of course!).
