M.H. Meyerson & Co., Inc. Takes Steps to Organize Electronic Trading Unit
JERSEY CITY, N.J. Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by M.H. Meyerson & Co., Inc., a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers, CRD number 540:

M.H. MEYERSON & CO., INC., (Nasdaq: MHMY - news) announced that it has taken preliminary steps to organize a new wholly owned subsidiary, for the purpose of conducting business under the name Emeyerson.com Inc. The Company intends to provide low cost electronic and Internet brokerage trading services, research, market data, and similar financial products for individual and institutional clients. However, Company representatives cautioned that these plans had to meet various regulatory requirements of the NASD, SEC and state securities authorities as well as such corporate planning matters as the hiring of additional experienced personnel and the acquisition and implementation of necessary trading systems. Accordingly, there was little expectation that this business could begin functioning before the latter part of 1999, at the earliest.

(I'm not sure if the angle here is supposed to be "paid P&D" in particular, or misleading PR that appropriates the words "partner", "venture", "new online resource", etc., to imply breakthrough profitability events when they are just pay-for-service or product deals.)

Anthony - look at RFGI - the timing on that seemed relatively quite opportune. Your erased/edited post is still in my in-box re I think RFGI.

Still think SWS is the beneficiary of RFGI going on-line.

There is one thing I've noticed and it might work for RFGI is they are focusing on ECN's. But, for paying $18 on the i-net, RFGI probably pays a lot less to place the trade and clear it. RFGI comes from the ins market place and a lot of the sales in that market have a few levels of distribution ie. the selling agent gets a commission, then the general agent eho manages the selling agents gets an override. Seems like RFGI is like a middleman and maybe they take the spread of the $18 they charge to us and the $10 or wjatever $ they pay for putting the trade thru and for clearing. If that's how they make their money seems they cud make a lot.

The timing of their on-line announcement sure was a bit fishy to me.

what about OMGA and IBM apparent buyout mentioned on Yahoo -been away looking for living accomodations last week, but that's got to be way off base - OMGA has options trading software and can't see why IBM would be buying such a co -- if this has already been mentioned, sorry, but there are way too many msgs and way too many threads to look at - in a one week pd, they sure pile up - more than old fashioned mail
