Well, the earnings are up 50% if you include investment gains, but he usually warns that these are not really "valuable" to investors-just accounting niceties. Earnings outside investment gains are up 5% or so...

The real value is in "float per share" and in "look-through earnings per share", among many other measures. This report doesn't really help calculate anything. It doesn't even tell how many shares are outstanding (the number being the average for 1998, not the year end number)...
